Alternative Bookmaking Workshop

Come learning how to make unique one of a kind journals with repurposed papers & bags with simple book making techniques. We will learn how to use a 3 hole pamphlet stitch to make signatures, use different methods of creating covers, experiment with folded methods of assembly and will then have time to customize with elastic closures and interior pockets.

Students will have access to tools in class for use during the workshop which will be supplemented with a supply list provided by the instructor upon enrollment.

Students will reimburse the instructor for materials. Please bring $20 to first day of the workshop!

Intuitive iPhone Photography

Have you always wanted to learn how to use the camera on your phone to it's fullest potential but have never managed to do so? Are you drawn to the unique moments that no one else seems to notice but you find beauty in them? I'm offering a one-day workshop that will open up the potential of your iPhone camera so you can walk away feeling more confident in your photo taking skills and also a bit more creatively inspired. Over the course of the 3 hour workshop I'll show you how to properly utilize a bunch of the settings on your camera, learn basic composition and lighting approaches as well as how to organize your photos into albums and share them.

We'll also go on a "Photo Walk" around the Workhouse Campus so wear walking shoes and appropriate clothes for the weather.

Please bring $20 for the materials fee to hand to instructor day of the workshop.

In this beginner-friendly class, you’ll learn the fundamentals of junk journal making, including how to assemble and bind pages, create pockets and interactive elements, and build interesting layers with collage techniques. We’ll also explore simple journaling prompts, expressive lettering, and creative mark-making to help you fill your pages with stories, memories, and artistic inspiration.

Bring your collection of unique papers, ephemera, and found materials, and we’ll transform them into a chunky, custom journal. All additional supplies and tools will be provided. Along the way, you’ll learn techniques for collaging, painting over backgrounds to create writing spaces, and designing visually engaging spreads.

Whether you’re interested in art journaling, mixed media, scrapbooking, or creative self-expression, junk journaling is a fun and forgiving way to create something truly personal.

Mixed Media Collage

Happy to announce I’ll be teaching a Mixed Media Collage Workshop at Workhouse Arts Center in May. Discover how to use Gelli plates, packing tape & gel medium to create unique printed textures, transparent images & how to transfer images to surfaces that you can use to build original Mixed Media Collages. We will play with various collage styles utilizing print media & ephemera and create one of a kind gelli printed papers as well as learn image transfer techniques that turn images transparent.  Day 1 will be instruction and practice and Day 2 will be a deep dive into final pieces. Students will receive a packet of collage papers with enrollment.
